Reiki

Reiki is a Japanese word meaning "Universal Life Force Energy". Energy is all around us at different levels. The energy from Reiki comes from all directions and travels through the Practitioner, who has mastered the art of facilitating its use. It was discovered by Dr Mikao Usui, who in the 1800's devoted his life to re-discovering the art of physical and mental healing used by the great Masters of history. After extensive travel and research he evolved a healing system based on the ancient Buddhist teachings written in Sanskrit.
The act of laying hands on the human to comfort and relieve pain is as old as instinct. Whenever we experience pain, the first thing most people do is to put their hands on the pain. When a child falls and hurts him or herself, they immediately run to their mother for her to make it better, and usually this is done by the touch of her hands. This human touch conveys warmth, serenity and healing. It also conveys caring and love. This is instinctual.
Reiki can be used in many circumstances and especially for relaxation or healing. This energy flows through the body to wherever it is needed and enhances the body's ability to heal itself, bringing about a profound sense of well-being.

How does Reiki work?

In the direct method of Reiki treatment, Intent is given to the Universe for the channeling of healing energy (Ki) with unconditional love, and for the highest good of the recipient. The facilitator’s hands are placed in various positions on or over the body to transfer the Universal Life Force Energy to the recipient. As a result, no personal energy is drawn or drained from the giver, who is simultaneously charged and strengthened

Reiki is healing energy of pure light and love from the highest source, and therefore can be used safely regardless of whatever illness the client is suffering from.

Most clients report feelings of a warm sensation, heat in parts of the body and a feeling of deep relaxation after the session.
